Celtic boss Lennon expects Hodgson to watch England hopefuls Forster, Hooper

Celtic manager Neil Lennon is hoping that England boss Roy Hodgson is present on Tuesday night to watch some of his players.

The Glasgow giants host Juventus in the Champions League Round of 16 first leg and Lennon suggests it would be beneficial to Hodgson if he was on hand to cast an ay over the likes of goalkeeper Fraser Forster and striker Gary Hooper.

"It is a back-handed compliment to have scouts at your stadium," said Lennon who has also recently had midfielder Victor Wanyama watched closely by other clubs.

"Every player has a price and we will have to sell eventually. Then you have to start again.

"Fraser is excellent. In my opinion, he is England's best keeper after Joe Hart - although I know I am biased. Gary is good enough to be in the England squad.

"I think Roy Hodgson will come up and watch the two of them on Tuesday. Credit to Roy as he is prepared to do that. Some managers would shut the door on the SPL but the Champions League has been so important for those two guys.

"To get two players in the England squad would be fantastic.

"Gary is the English leading scorer in the Champions League. In the Old Firm matches he has scored eight in 11. They are pressure games.

"He is a wee bit like Henrik Larsson. He scores a lot of goals but he scores important goals."
