Celtic boss keen on Man City's Bellamy but can't afford his wages

Celtic boss Neil Lennon would love to have Craig Bellamy back at the club but insists they probably cannot afford him. The Manchester City striker looks set to depart Eastlands this summer and it appeared as though the Hoops were extremely keen after preparing a £3.5million offer.

But Bellamy's wages of around £80,000-a-week are far too much for the Glasgow giants and Lennon says the Welshman, who had a loan stint at Parkhead in 2005, is unlikely to return to the club.

"It looks a remote possibility now unless some sort of scenario comes up where he could come down a bit on the wages," he said.

"Craig is not back from holiday yet anyway.

"We would also need to know what the situation is and what the proposal would be.

"Peter Lawwell is looking at that, although I am not over-confident on that one."
