Celtic boss: Four-goal Hooper good enough for England

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has urged the England national team selectors to call up striker Gary Hooper.

The 24-year old, who has been prolific for the Glasgow giants since joining from Scunthorpe United in 2010, netted all four goals as the Hoops beat Raith Rovers 4-1 in the Scottish League Cup last night.

After the match, Hooper's boss Lennon feels the number one Parkhead striker should soon be rewarded with a call-up to the Three Lions squad.

"He's good enough for England," said Lennon.

"He scores a lot of goals and his link-up play was great. He does the hardest job in football and scores in big games.

"He is an intelligent footballer, he's quick over five to ten yards and his first touch is sublime.

"At times we've used him a little bit differently but he thrives on goals.

"As well as his goals tonight, his play was of a really high standard."
