Celtic boss expects Samaras departure

Celtic manager Neil Lennon believes Georgios Samaras may exit the club this summer.

The 29-year old Greek forward is out of contract at the end of the season and although the player has not yet decided on his future, Lennon is under the impression that he will end his six-and-a-half years at Parkhead.

"It's still open to debate at the minute. There is no forward movement on whether he stays or goes," Lennon told Sky Sports News after Samaras scored the opening goal in the weekend's 2-0 win at Dundee United.

"From my point of view I would like to keep him as he brings something different to the team, but Sami will have his own perspective on that.

"There may be a bit of movement yet but at the moment it looks like he won't be here next season, but while he is I think he owes it to the supporters to show he is still a quality player."

Since joining the Hoops from Manchester City in 2008, Samaras has made over 240 appearances for near-on 70 goals and close to 50 assists for the Glasgow giants.
