Jamie Ashdown's future at Portsmouth is in doubt.

After David James was forced out due to surgery, Asmir Begovic was selected for his Pompey debut in last night's victory over Sunderland.

The News says the 21-year-old received the nod ahead of Ashdown to replace James and promptly responded with a confident display.

His elevation to number two casts doubts over the Fratton Park future of Ashdown.

The former Reading man was on the bench last night and has already been linked with moves to Birmingham, Derby and Celtic this summer.
