The Express reports that Celtic have submitted a £1.6million bid for Willem II defender Mitchell Dijks.

But the Scottish champions would have to battle it out with Ajax who are also interested in the left-back who started his career with the Amsterdam giants.

According to the report, Ajax are only prepared to pay £800,000 for the defender and Willem II could try to persuade him to move to Scotland for double the money.

The 22-year old would prefer to move back to the Amsterdam club but hasn't ruled out a move to Celtic.
