Liverpool are being linked with Tranmere Rovers fullback Danny Holmes.

The Daily Record says news broke at the tail end of last season that Celtic, Rangers and Liverpool were all interested in capturing Holmes but the Ibrox meltdown and the sacking of Kenny Dalglish at Anfield means the path is now clear for the SPL champions.

Agent Jonathan Hope confirmed: "A number of clubs are chasing Danny and one of those clubs is Celtic.

"But with Tranmere exercising their one-year option, I will only be contacted if the clubs agree a deal."
