West Brom fullback Marek Cech says he hopes the best for Chris Wood at the World Cup.

Wood's New Zealand upset Slovakia's hopes this week with a surprise 1-1 draw in their opening group game.

Cech told the Express & Star: "I wished Chris well for the next two games and that I looked forward to seeing him in Birmingham.

"We will have two more games and know that if we'd won against New Zealand it would have been easier for us.

"Now it is going to be far more difficult."
