Petr Cech is set to meet with Chelsea officials in the New Year to begin negotiations over a new contract at Stamford Bridge. "There are a lot of matches at this time of year so we are agreed that both sides will prepare for the negotiations and we will meet to resolve it when there is time for that," the Blues keeper told isport.blesk.cz.
"The last few weeks have been hectic and over Christmas it will be even worse in that aspect. We will meet after New Year's Day.
"I have been here for eight years and I have been more or less a regular starter, so I'm more than happy.
"Ever since I was a kid I wanted to be at a club that is among the best in the world.
"Chelsea are in the world's top competition, so I have no reason to leave. I would like to see myself staying."
Asked if he thought an agreement would be reached over an extension, the 29 year old added: "Yes, I think so and we will not have a problem."
