Malaga vice-captain Weligton has revealed that Santi Cazorla is set to sign with Arsenal and believes it will help the club financially.
The 27-year old Spanish midfielder is set to undergo a medical in North London on Thursday afternoon before signing a mooted four-year deal believed to be worth around £17million.
Today, Brazilian defender Weligton indicated that Cazorla deal was set to go through and although he will be sad to lose his talented teammate, he knows it is a good thing for Malaga to recoup some of the £39m they spent last summer.
"There are no secrets about the situation the club is in. We have had some meetings amongst the players and we continue to believe in the club,” he told Marca.
"We know the difficult situation they are in. We are about to close the sale of one player (Cazorla) and with this money part of the problem that we have can be solved.
"We are in an awkward situation. Everyone expected more signings, more surprises, to continue being the team in fashion.
"But, for certain reasons, including many we don't know, the chairman has now stopped investing money. We are living in a delicate moment, but there are great players here and a good bond between them.”
