Caulker backing Liverpool colleague Sturridge to fire ahead of League Cup final

Steven Caulker believes Daniel Sturridge can be a major influence for Liverpool if he can remain fit.

As the Reds prepare Thursday's Europa League clash with Augsburg and Sunday's Capital One Cup final with Manchester City, Caulker is confident a fit Sturridge can give so much to Jurgen Klopp's side.

The 26-year-old returned to the starting line-up with a goal in the 6-0 win over Aston Villa last weekend before getting through a further 60 minutes in last week's Round of 32 first leg in Augsburg and is being tipped to fire the Reds to silverware by defender Caulker who arrived on loan from QPR, via Southampton, in January.

"He's looking sharp and strong. He's always been a hard worker, I've known him from previous England camps and he's always got his head down and working hard, which is no different to how he is now," Caulker, who is cup-tied for the League Cup final, told Sky Sports News HQ.

"He's been battling away, and hopefully it's time for a bit of luck on his side and he can stay injury free.

"He's one of our best players, and he's proved that since he came straight back in with a goal against Aston Villa. I'm sure there's many more exciting things to come from him until the end of the season."
