Sunderland midfielder Lee Cattermole says a new spirit is sweeping through the club.
The Black Cats host Stoke City on Wednesday.
Cattermole said: "We have been down in a couple of games - we seem to be doing better away from home at the minute than we are at home.
"But we showed against Southampton, we came back. They are a very good team, Southampton, they aren't the Southampton team of old.
"They came here and they are as good as any team in the league at the minute. They are very well organised and it was a tough game.
"But we came back from that, and we have got to go with the same attitude against Stoke and just keep grinding out results, and we are gradually clawing the teams back."
