Sunderland midfielder Lee Cattermole has said that complacency has no place at this point of the season as the Black Cats get set travel to Everton on Saturday.
Sunderland defeated Southampton 2-1 last weekend but the odds are stacked against them ahead of their trip to Goodison Park.
The Black Cats have a woeful record on the blue side of the Mersey, with only one win in 15 visits, and they are yet to win back-to-back games this season in the league.
Of that prospect, Cattermole said: "In the past, maybe after we've won games, we've been a bit complacent in the next one, so we have to stay firm and focused now.
"We haven't had back-to-back wins in the league this season and that's something we're very aware of. If we could do that now, it would be absolutely massive.
"We've just got to go to Everton and try to build on what we have done these last two weeks. The performances have been good, and we have looked dangerous against two decent teams."
