Catania winger Francesco Lodi is upset missing Italy's Euros squad.
Lodi had been tipped by many to be part of the long-list for the tournament, but was ignored in favour of 19-year-old Pescara midfielder Marco Verratti.
"I will admit I was disappointed, as I thought I had done well enough to make it," he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"To be perfectly honest, I also gave myself a simple explanation for this: I had a good season with Catania, but it wasn't enough.
"At least that provides me with extra motivation to do even better next term and make Cesare Prandelli's decisions a little more difficult.
"Wearing the Azzurri jersey would be a great honour for me."
