Catania skipper Baiocco slams showboating Mutu

Catania captain Davide Baiocco has blasted showboating Fiorentina star Adrian Mutu after Sunday's defeat.

It was Mutu who struck the Viola's winner, but his antics left Catania's players cold.

"Mutu is a great champion, but he is also a small man," the angry midfielder raged.

"There's so much talk about fair play, but we are still a third-world country in those terms given that there are players who taunt the opposition."

Mutu seemed unfazed by the reactions of the Etnei players as he responded to Baiocco's comments.

"Perhaps some Catania players didn't enjoy my tricks, but that's football," he shrugged.

"I always play with respect for the opposition, but when I have the ball at my feet I will do what I want. They were probably angrier at the defeat than my actions."
