Catania coach Marco Giampaolo was delighted with their 1-1 draw with AC Milan.

Pippo Inzaghi earned Milan a disappointing 1-1 draw, as Catania had taken the lead through Ciro Capuano's magnificent volley.

"This draw will boost our confidence, as we played well. We played the game we had to against Milan," said Giampaolo.

"We could've made more of our counter-attacks, but over the 90 minutes I think the team took the right approach against a Milan side that threatens to run you ragged with its possession football.

"I had to ask my players to sacrifice themselves for the team, especially Giuseppe Mascara and Mariano Izco, who are not accustomed to it.

"There were so many details that we all had to focus on to make this work."
