Catania chief Pietro Lo Monaco has confirmed interest from Juventus for Jorge Martinez.
This week the Sicilians confirmed they were close to agreeing a deal with Lazio, but a stumbling block has emerged.
"It is true, there has been a meeting with Juventus," Catania general manager Lo Monaco told lalaziosiamonoi.it.
"We did get into a fairly detailed discussion on the specifics of the transfer."
Having been turned down by CSKA Moscow in their offer for Milos Krasic, it is now reported that Juve are making the same 13m bid for Martinez.
"It is out of the question that he can leave Catania in a co-ownership deal, nor as part of a player exchange.
"For example, there has been much media speculation about Pasquale Foggia, but his wages are far too high for us."
