Catania sports director Pietro Lo Monaco expects Sinisa Mihajlovic to join Fiorentina.

Mihajlovic resigned from Catania as coach last week and is set to replace Cesare Prandelli at Fiorentina.

Lo Monaco said: "Mihajlovic has rescinded his contract with Catania. We never opposed him. His wish was to go to a more ambitious place and it seemed right to us to agree to it.

"At this point he is free to sign for Fiorentina, as are his staff."
