Cassell hopeful Man City kids can crack Premiership

Manchester City academy chief Jim Cassell is banking on some of his FA Youth Cup heroes to make the step up into the Premiership next season.

He told City's website: "Everything went very well for us. It's no secret that the Youth Cup was the great desire for us to achieve, and we did that - but obviously you get greedy and want to do it again! The Under 18s had a good season, finishing top of their league, and the Under 16s only lost a couple of games as well.

"Overall, the top end of the age groups has been very successful so we hope that we can repeat that or go even better. I hope that some of the boys that played in the Youth Cup that are moving up to Carrington can make the step up and spend some time on the pitch in the Premier League."
