Antonio Cassano is turning the tables on Sampdoria over their contract row.

Samp president Riccardo Garrone is pushing to have the striker's contract terminated after a blazing row.

But Gazzetta dello Sport says Cassano's lawyers have lodged a request for €1m compensation for the damage done to his public image.

He claims that the air was cleared in a telephone conversation with Garrone after the incident. Only afterwards did the club demand a formal written apology, which Cassano refused to sign.
