Former Palermo fullback Mattia Cassani is eager to kickstart his Fiorentina career.

The full-back joined the Viola last week, but is yet to make his debut for the club. Curiously, he could play in their stadium anyway, as Florence hosts the Azzurri.

"I hope to be in the starting XI against Slovenia. It will be an incredible emotion to make my debut in front of my new fans, albeit wearing the Azzurri shirt," said Cassani.

"I'd love to put in a great performance for Italy and win over my new supporters. We've got to take the right approach to Slovenia and not get caught up in the haste to secure qualification straight away.

"After all, we have only conceded one goal in qualifying so far and it's what great success is built on. The Coach asks us for tactical balance."
