Iker Casillas is urging Real Madrid to secure Fabio Cannavaro to a new contract. The Italian veteran, 36 this year, is inside the final six months of his current deal and considering his options.

Cannavaro wants to close his career with hometown club Napoli, but Casillas is desperate for him to stick around.

The goalkeeper said: "He is in excellent form. He has everything you need in a central defender. Strength, experience, leadership ... I want him in my defence."
