Iker Casillas insists Real Madrid can bounce back from their Champions League elimination.

After their 1-1 draw against Lyon, Casillas sought to remind fans that they're a club in transition.

"It is a new club this season, after suffering the Copa elimination at the hands of Alcorcón, this is also hard, but we do not make excuses. We had high hopes and it is hard to digest," said Casillas.

"The truth is that it is a new club this season and I hope the Madrid fans understand. I apologize on behalf of the squad. Now we must recover."

Casillas added: "Now we must be calm. We all have so much anger and tomorrow we'll talk. What is clear is that these things should help us to move forward."
