Barcelona fear Manchester City are ready to splash out for Daniel Alves.
The Daily Mail says Barcelona are bracing themselves for a £30million bid from Manchester City for Brazilian defender Dani Alves.
City have long been linked with the dynamic right-back and made tentative inquiries in the summer yet the 27-year-old looked ready to sign a new contract at the Camp Nou.
However, that deal has not been signed and Barcelona insiders fear that is because Alves believes he can get a much better deal with City - especially after seeing former teammate Yaya Toure strike a deal worth £220,000 a week.
Barcelona, who are £430m in debt, thought they had pushed the boat out by offering Alves £160,000 a week but it is understood to be heavily based on bonuses. He has stalled on signing and now Barca expect a £30m offer to come in January for a player who has just 18 months left on his contract.
Last week, amid reports Barca had given Alves a December 31 deadline by which to sign, his agent Joaquin Macanas said: "Dani is one of the best defenders in the world and the big clubs desire his services. We only ask that Barca value him in reality for his work and development during these years."
