Southampton legend Jimmy Case believes Andrew Surman is likely to snub any offer from Portsmouth.

Ex-Saints and Liverpool star Case told The News: "Andrew has come on a lot over the last few years and is one for the future that's for sure. He was a little bit lightweight at first and in and out of the side but now warrants a place in my view.

"He's one of their best players and as a big Saints fan you can see how much it means to him out there playing every week. Andrew's one of the ones that catches your eye. He's a very talented player who creates and sees a pass.

"He's also a left-sided player and there's not many of them around. This transfer talk is all rumour. I'm sure he can play in the Premier League but at the moment he is playing regular football and getting that experience, which is important.

"It's common knowledge he's a Saints fan too and it's clear he loves it there."
