Casalinuovo moved to Hamilton for regular football

Damian Casalinuovo quit Dundee United to gain more game-time with Hamilton. The 23-year-old striker had become frustrated at a lack of first-team opportunities this season having been an unused substitute for each of United's opening five games.

But Hamilton offered the prospect of more first-team action and signed Casalinuovo late on transfer deadline day for an undisclosed fee, with the Argentinian signing a two-year deal with the Accies.

"I hadn't had the opportunity to play so I think this is a great chance to come and try to be a regular," he told the Daily Record.

"I've been unfortunate but I think now it's a good time to change things."

Casalinuovo left his homeland to join Dundee United last summer and after a successful month's loan at Raith he returned to Tannadice to score eight goals from 18 starts last season, making a further 12 appearances from the bench.

The transfer window has now shut but Accies boss Billy Reid insists there could be more new faces arriving at New Douglas Park.

"There are a couple of free agents kicking about that are very interesting options," he added.
