Newcastle United No2 John Carver has hailed the form of two key players this season.

Newcastle United fans may be ready to back 11-goal Demba Ba after his two goal salvo at Norwich, and Carver also believes Tim Krul is in superb fettle between the sticks.

The former Cardiff City player told the Evening Chronicle: "Demba Ba is full of confidence.

"He is playing well and scoring goals. Whatever is put in front of him, he seems to be converting.

"That is a positive for team, and Tim Krul is on top form and making saves.

"These players are firing on all cylinders and we are looking forward to being at St James's Park again."
