Carvalho admits Chelsea desperate to win Champions League

Ricardo Carvalho admits Chelsea are desperate to win the Champions League this season.

Looking back on the scenes in Moscow last season, he explained: "The final last season left me sad, but in the dressing room we swore that we would be in the next final.

"So now 'Operation Champions League Final' begins.

"Chelsea at the very least want to repeat last season in terms of getting to the final, so that means not slipping up at all - right from the start.

"We have to beat Bordeaux and beat them well to show we are here and that we mean business again.

"We respect all our rivals, but this year we have to win all our home games. We have to go all out from the start, we don't want to just scrape through.

"Convincing wins will also help us in our Premier League battle.

"We are not taking anyone lightly, but only a catastrophe will stop us qualifying from our group. If you look at the squads on paper, I think we are superior to Bordeaux, Roma and Cluj, the Romanian club - but we have to show it on the pitch.

"This year Chelsea want it all. We have to go for the league and for Europe. We have talked in the dressing room and with the coach.

"Last season's final left a sour taste in the mouth and we want to give our captain John Terry the chance to lift the European Cup."
