Scott Carson is unsure of his role in a bid from Liverpool for Aston Villa captain Gareth Barry.

"I can't comment on that. I don't know - as the manager said, there was 'a mish-mash of unnamed players'," Carson told the Birmingham Mail. "That's up to Gareth. It's a different deal to mine. So we will have to wait and see.

"I would like to get settled so I could get a house sorted then at least it's not being done in pre-season.

"It's not up to me. Whether it's Villa or anyone else, it's up to them to try to sort it out.

"I haven't got a clue what's happening. I haven't even spoken to Liverpool.

"But I want to play football. I have played football for the last two seasons and I don't think I will be content with sitting on the bench."
