Former Everton midfielder Lee Carsley is delighted seeing Seamus Coleman pen new terms.
He wrote in the Liverpool Echo: "The Republic of Ireland international is still only 25.
"He's still in the developmental stage of his career so he's not finished article yet.
"I'm sure Seamus will have targeted the areas he needs to improve because he seems like the type of player who is always keen to progress.
"But having Seamus agree a new deal coupled with the extensions for Leighton Baines and, of course, the manager, it just goes to show how far the club has progressed in recent years.
"I think Baines is comfortably the best in the league in his position."
