Carsley confident Everton will hit goal trail

Lee Carsley is confident Everton will soon hit the goal trail again.

Despite keeping five clean sheets in their last seven Premier League fixtures, the goals have dried up at the other end and nearly five-and-a-half hours of football have elapsed since Joleon Lescott scored against Wigan.

Andrew Johnson's disallowed effort at Blackburn should have changed that but Carsley said: "We just need to give AJ a few more chances. We haven't been creating as much as we would like to at the minute. But we look solid, so it's just a case of tweaking things.

"We dominated the game and defensively at the minute we look fantastic. We just could have done with nicking the win at Blackburn. We wanted four points from the games with them and Tottenham but they are both tough teams.

"To finish fourth, we need to have a lot of things going for us. When we come to the end of the season, we just don't want to look back at Blackburn and regret it."
