Andy Carroll has made a playing return in a friendly for West Ham United against Southend United.
The England international has not yet featured this season due to an ankle injury but played in the 1-1 draw on Wednesday lunchtime.
The 25-year-old last played for the Hammers in their pre-season tour of New Zealand. His last competitive match was against Manchester City on May 11.
