Big Andy Carroll is hoping late season action for Newcastle United last season will lead to more opportunities for the coming campaign.

He told the Evening Chronicle: "All of these appearances left me hungry for more. Even if I play five minutes it makes me want to play even more for the first team.

"And hopefully that can continue next season."
