Andy Carroll is determined to live up to pulling on the Newcastle United No9 shirt.
Carroll endured some light-hearted dressing-room banter after the 2-1 loss at Norwich with Joey Barton telling him: "You're getting the No 24 back now", as the players headed home from Norfolk.
The new Toon No9 told the Evening Chronicle: "It's a great feeling to have that shirt on your back.
"But for me now it's about getting the fitness side of it right before the new season.
"I think that things will be absolutely fine by the start of the season."
