Carroll continuing to push for full fitness at West Ham

Andy Carroll is not quite at full fitness despite returning to action for West Ham United during the week.

The injury-prone centre-forward started in Tuesday night's Capital One Cup defeat at Leicester City, going 63 minutes before being replaced by Dimitri Payet.

It was Carroll's first start of the campaign after recovering from knee surgery but he is not quite ready for full Premier League action according to manager Slaven Bilic.

"He couldn't do more in training," said Bilic.

"He's working hard. But after seven months he's lacking match fitness. He's still missing that crucial 10-20 per cent."

Third-placed West Ham host 11th-placed Norwich City at Upton Park on Saturday.
