Michael Carrick believes Manchester United teammate Wayne Rooney can win England the World Cup.
Rooney, 24, is unstoppable right now but will that continue through to a World Cup final in July.
Carrick said: "We haven't gone to a major tournament for some time with someone like Wayne playing the way he is at the moment.
"It's not like he bangs them in for England and not for United. He is firing every time he puts on a shirt. I am sure he will continue doing that and I am sure he is the type of player that when a World Cup comes along, will perform at his best.
"Pick up a paper and watch the TV and nearly everyday it is 'Is he the best in the world or not?' But he thrives on that and it kicks him onto another level again.
"He carries the expectations of everyone well. Nothing phases him."
