Michael Carrick is unsure where he stands in new Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal's plans.
The Manchester Evening News says after being named United's player of the year in their title-winning campaign of 2012-13, Carrick struggled under the weight of trying to hold together their fragile midfield last season.
But it remains to be seen how he will fit into Van Gaal's plans, with Tom Cleverley, Marouane Fellaini, Darren Fletcher and Nick Powell competing for places along with any new arrivals.
