Carrick hoping to see out career at Man Utd

Michael Carrick says that in a perfect world he would end his career with Manchester United.

The 31-year old midfielder, who arrived from Tottenham in 2006, insists he would love to spend the rest of his playing days at Old Trafford but is aware the nature of the sport could change that.

"In an ideal world, of course. Not many people walk away from this place," he told talkSPORT.

"Who knows? They might say at some point 'thank you, it's time to move on'. I hope not because I love this place but we'll have to see how it goes."

On how he'd go about his possible retirement, Carrick added: "I don't think I'd be one for dropping down the leagues, I'd prefer to go out near the top.

"I think I would probably just start coaching or something like that and try to help the younger lads out."
