Michael Carrick was delighted with his penalty scored in Manchester United's 2-0 friendly victory over Aberdeen.

Carrick said: "It's always nice to score and get off the mark and I'm more than happy to get on the penalties.

''I'll take a few more of them if they become available!

"The season seems to have come around pretty quick but it's the longest break I have had for a number of years.

''So it's nice to come back and start all over again. We have to earn it all again and we know it's going to be a long, hard season, but we're ready for the challenge.

"It was a good first game for us. We have come through without any problems, so everyone is happy.

''But it was mainly about stepping up the fitness levels to get us a bit sharper."
