Carragher, Redknapp name best Liverpool XI…and cut their mate Owen

Jamie Carragher and Jamie Redknapp had a crack at putting together their best Liverpool XI of the Premier League era.

The former Reds stars came together for the Daily Mirror, while they were making their final selections for the Budweiser Dream Goal competition.

Pepe Reina was in goal behind a back four consisting of Rob Jones, Carragher himself, Sami Hyypia and John Arne Riise.

A midfield four had Steve McManaman on the right, Steven Gerrard and Xabi Alonso deployed centrally and John Barnes on the left.

But one of the striker positions, alongside Luis Suarez, prompted some hilarity as Carragher opted not to select his good mate Michael Owen and former colleague Fernando Torres for obvious reasons.

“One went to Man United and one went to Chelsea, so f**k 'em," he said matter of factly.

The final attacking position did go to Robbie Fowler who would also double as the team's social secretary.

Check out the video here thanks to the Mirror..
