Carragher: Ranieri will never be forgotten, Leicester story will be told in 100 years

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has stated that Claudio Ranieri has gone down in Leicester City folklore and will never be forgotten.

Leicester have been crowned 2015/16 Premier League champions following Tottenham Hotspur's 2-2 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Monday night and the achievement is seen by many as the greatest ever upset in sporting history.

Foxes manager Ranieri is che most popular man in Leicester after questions were raised over his appointment in the summer and Carragher has stated that the feats of the likeable Italian will never be forgotten by the club and the city.

He said on Sky Sports: "Ranieri was laughed out of town when he was given the job.

"In the management game, there are few that people really respect and think of as absolute winners. Alex Ferguson, Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho. Everyone else gets slaughtered.

"Ranieri is a manager at the top level who just missed out on trophies. Now he may get the credit he deserves. He's achieved something that possibly no other manager can match in one season. He will never, ever be forgotten.

"A lot of the players have been outstanding. None of them were born on the red carpet. Jamie Vardy from non-league; (Riyad) Mahrez — how cheap he was; (N'Golo) Kante in midfield.

"They're an example for young lads who are released from clubs. This story will be told in 100 years time. Those players are legends now."
