Carragher pinpoints Suarez as Liverpool's star

Liverpool veteran Jamie Carragher was over the moon for Luis Suarez as he produced another stellar performance, this time in the 3-2 victory over Tottenham today.

The Uruguayan striker made it 22 Premier League goals and 29 total for the campaign when he gave the Reds the lead at Anfield in the 21st minute with a fine finish at the near post from a low Jose Enrique cross.

Fellow Premier League superstar Gareth Bale was heavily involved in both of Jan Vertonghen's goals as Spurs took the lead early in the second half but Stewart Downing received a gift before Suarez won a penalty for Steven Gerrard to convert to send the Reds sixth and bring about plenty of praise from Carragher.

"I've been saying it for how long that Luis has been a top player and we're delighted to have him," he told Sky Sports.

"There's a lot of talk of him, (Gareth) Bale and (Robin) van Persie for the Player of the Year award but the two today are top players. Bale showed some tremendous touches but he (Suarez) is man of the match so he's obviously come out on top today."
