Carragher: Liverpool win at Crystal Palace keeps alive top four hopes

Jamie Carragher believes Liverpool are still within a chance of sneaking into the Premier League's top four.

The Reds came from behind with ten men to defeat Crystal Palace 2-1 at Selhurst Park on Sunday which has them sitting six points behind fourth-placed Manchester City with both sides having 10 fixtures to play.

Regarding the hard-fought victory in South London, former Anfield star Carragher suggests Jurgen Klopp's men are still holding hope that perhaps they can continue to place pressure on the teams above them and perhaps find themselves in a more advanced position come season's end.

"They are six points behind Man City, so I think it will be difficult to get top four," Carragher said on Sky Sports.

"But what it does is just give you a little bit of hope as a Liverpool player and fan that the next eight or nine games are not just going to peter out.

"There is something there, a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel that something could happen if three or four teams drop points."

Joe Ledley opened the scoring for Palace early in the second half before James Milner was sent off for a second yellow card.

However, the Reds fought back strongly thanks to goals from Roberto Firmino and Christian Benteke to land their third straight win in the league.
