Carragher keen to stay with Liverpool post-retirement

The former England international has admitted he does not know if he could cope with the daily ups and downs of management, but the Anfield favourite says he is keen to remain at the Merseyside club in some capacity once his illustrious career on the pitch with The Reds is finished.

"I love the game and I'd like to still be involved in some capacity when I stop playing, but I am changing my mind about it all the time," Carragher was quoted as saying in the Sunday Mirror.

"Of course I'd love to still be involved with Liverpool. That's not me touting for a job, but if I could have a role that would help this club improve in any way I'd do it.

"I have been going to the Academy to start my coaching badges, but sometimes I remember how bad it must feel after a defeat and it must be 10 times worse as a manager. Even when you win there is always something about the performance you're not happy with. I'm already a bit like that as a player.

"It sounds stupid because I love playing football, but sometimes I can't wait until I'm finished so I won't have all the ups and downs anymore."
