Jamie Carragher admits his son has urged him to reverse his decision to retire at Liverpool.

Son James - a striker at Liverpool's Academy - tried his utmost to talk him out of it when his centre-back dad broke the news at the turn of the year.

Carragher, quitting after 16 glorious years, revealed: "When I first told him he did, yeah. It hasn't been mentioned lately but it's the end for him, too.

"He can't say his dad's a Liverpool player any more! Monday morning his dad will be just a normal dad like everyone else. I've still got a job fortunately!"
