Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher admits the manner of their Carling Cup final victory was typical of the club.

The Reds needed a shootout to beat Cardiff City.

The vice-captain told Liverpoolfc.tv: "Every final that Liverpool are in, all the finals I've been involved in with the club - we always put the supporters and ourselves through it and it was exactly the same here.

"We gave our best and they made it very difficult for us. But we knew it was going to be like that. You talk about it being a big game for us but Cardiff had the same build up, the same family and friends here.

"It was massive for them - maybe even bigger for them because some of them maybe haven't played at that level or this stage before and maybe they won't again. It was always going to be tough, but as long as you get over the line, that's the main thing."
