David Carney was involved in a substitution muddle up in the second half of Blackpool's 2-1 win over Wolves on the weekend.
The Australian international was to come on for striker Luke Varney, who had earlier scored a stunner, to help preserve the Seasiders' lead but instead he came on for Stephen Crainey.
Blackpool boss Ian Holloway admits it was a bit of a muck up but could see the funny side of the confusion.
"We got it mixed up. I wanted to take Varney off and put Carney on but we ended up taking off Crainey. It all got confused," he said.
"Varney, Carney, Crainey is a tongue-twister.
"We made a mistake but I'll let my staff off as they're great."
