West Ham United striker Carlton Cole has accepted personal responsibility for his release in the summer.
The 30-year-old freely admits that the bizarre situation which saw him released at the end of last season only to sign a short-term deal at Upton Park last month was mostly of his own making.
He told the Daily Mail: "I went around the world,' he says of his summer search for a new club.
"I went to America to have a look, Turkey, France. But nothing really took my fancy. I had a few offers here, in the Premier League and the Championship.
"I didn't really follow it up.
"And then I went on holiday again."
