Carlisle return for ex-Bolton striker Jansen

Matt Jansen has returned to Carlisle United for pre-season training in a bid to regain his fitness.

The Carlisle-born striker, who quit his hometown club in February 1998 to join Crystal Palace in a £1million deal, was released from Bolton in May 2006 and did not make a single appearance anywhere last season.

Carlisle boss Neil McDonald said: "Matt has asked to train with us as he works on his fitness and sharpness, and we are happy for him to do that.

"He's enjoying himself, working very hard, so he'll be here with us as he gets himself back up to a decent level."
