Carlisle boss Kavanagh hopes to keep Hull fullback Townsend

Carlisle United boss Graham Kavanagh hopes to extend the loan of Hull City fullback Conor Townsend.

The defender's current spell is set to come to an end this week.

"We've had preliminary discussions with Conor about coming back and it's something we are working towards," said Kavanagh.

"We can't sign him beyond this 93-day loan so he has to go back to Hull and could easily go on loan elsewhere in December, which would be a right pain in the proverbials.

"I've told them if anything happens I want to know. He has been outstanding, his confidence has grown and he is only going to get better."
